He seems like a character out of a romance novel. He's soft spoken, kind, gentle and intelligent. He hides his feelings rather well and quotes poems and writers constantly. He often gets confusing when he speaks, but he usually speaks slowly and soft. He doesn't get angry; he gets disappointed and frustrated. He's one of those guys who intrigues you with his suave beautiful words and intelligent dialogue.

Marcus was born into a very very VERY rich family in the South, Georgia to be precise. The romantic youth didn't live up to his family name, instead writing poetry and observing nature. His father tried to beat into him the fact he was the heir but Marcus tried to avoid his responsibility. He built himself a tree house and stayed up there, trying to avoid his father. His mother was gentle with him and paid for classes for him. He got a scholarship to NYU but his father refused to let him go. So he left, leaving behind his inheritance.
Poor, the male survived by selling his writing online to magazines and other articles. He worked hard, earning his masters in Education and English. His powers were late in exposing themselves. He teleported to Paris, discovering his powers and using them to travel and write. He got a job as a travel writer and enjoyed his carefree life. Until he saw a kid in New York City beaten for being a mutant. Deciding to cash in on his Masters in Education, Marcus went to teach English at Xavier's. And went on to be the hearthrob teacher of the school.
