((June 2nd, Jakkie and Xavier stuff c: ))
Jakkie was getting reckless. She was traveling the school by day freely now, since no one ever questioned her. She'd become a frequent enough face to the students that she was no longer 'new' but avoided the teachers like the plague. She was good at that. Of course, it did occasionally come up among the kids that no one had seen her in any classes. Some speculated that she was a ghost, or a spirit; someone Kevin had accidentally killed and that's why she always hung around him. Why he willing hung around her- because in their speculation he probably couldn't kill her.
Most kids didn't bother talking to her. She'd become known well enough for not being sociable, let alone approachable. But still, there was always one jackass that managed to piss her off pretty bad. In this case, it was a brown haired boy with a freckled face. He'd manage to get her pretty choked, but maybe it had more to do with the fact Jakkie was already on edge. After her encounter with that boy last night? She wasn't feeling all too forgiving. With so much annoyance pulsing through her head right now, Jakkie could hardly even remember what the poor boy had done to set her off so bad. All she knew was that she had him against the wall, his collar gripped by her fists on either side, and she wasn't nearly done being nasty. Her eyes were feral and her jaw had dislocated itself to extend at a larger angle. Her teeth were sharp and her tongue writhed as she shrieked at the boy.
She wasn't nearly close enough to changing, but she clearly wasn't bothering to monitor herself right now as much as she should have. She just wanted to scare the crap out of this kid so bad.

Xavier was sitting in front of an small gathering of students, a book in his lap as he discussed the interesting internal question of Lord of the Flies.
"What Mr. Golding is exploring in his novel," Xavier held up a very old edition, bound in blue leather and clearly well used. "Is whether we are in fact born evil, and made humane by society, or if is the reverse that is true."
He straightened, blinking in surprise as a shrieking wave of fear came from one of his students a few halls down from the classroom he was now in. He cleared his throat, smiling at his students. "Thank you everyone, I think that will do for today. I want you to consider that question, though, and how it effects the debates on ourselves to this very day. We'll discuss it tomorrow."
As the students began collecting their things, he sat back in his chair, lightly reclining so the placement of his fingers upon his temple looked incidental. Calling out with him mind, he quickly found the girl linked to the boy in considerable distress.
"Hello Miss Savoy, this is Professor Xavier. I would ask you to release Mr. Beaker, and come speak with me in my office, please."
Activating his chair, he returned to his office to await the girl, who he'd clearly left too long unattended.

She looked like she was about to lick the boy when it happened. A distinct interference that was entirely alien to her mind. Jakkie didn't like it- and her other side definitely did not like it. She jolted slightly, to keep it from taking hold and running for it. She almost didn't listen, but the words rang so clearly in her mind it was hard to miss. That Xavier guy everyone talked about... Jakkie had never actually seen him.
She released the boy, and grabbed her hair.
"Stay out of my head...." she growled inwardly. The boy looked petrified, but eventually found his legs and left. If he didn't already think she was crazy enough, surely that had done it. It was doubtful that she was the only one he'd ever come across that was opposed to the intrusion.
It took a moment for her to calm, her jaw clicking into place. The anger at the student had only been interrupted due to the fact she was startled. Almost afraid. She knew that eventually her look game of running around with no classes and no commitment to this place would be stopped. Jakkie wasn't naive enough to believe they'd remained ignorant, and simply let her be for as long as she liked. But the manner in which it'd happened was... truthfully alarming.
She did rule out the idea of simply running off from the school entirely, and eventually made it to the office. She'd spent enough time here to know it was the room, and it felt oddly forbidden finally approaching it. Looking both ways, she eventually stepped in and closed the door behind her. When she turned around, her breathing was somewhat haggard, like it was getting caught and stuck in her throat. An unfortunate side effect of her power. When she was worked up, her body pumped faster and she had trouble keeping up with it.

Xavier was sitting by one of his bookshelves when she entered, returning Lord of the Flies to it's place. Apprehension rolled off the girl, but not out of timidity. The girl, as with many mutants who had a physically alerting ability, had certain animalistic qualities. The heavy breathing seemed to him to read her body debating between fight or flight.
"Hello, thank you for coming," he spoke in his calmest voice, but out of respect refrained from using any of his abilities to make certain of the girls feelings. He gestured to the chair in front of the fire place which due to the heat was not in use. "Would you care to take a seat? I trust you don't mind if I do."
The joke at his own expense was meant to hopefully put her more to ease. Whether she decided to join him or not, he'd wheel himself over to the vacant spot on the other side of the table there.

She glanced at the fireplace, red eyes then darting around the room suspiciously, as if he was going to trap her with something. She decided he wasn't going to, but when he made the joke about his own disability it'd done its task in at least throwing off her defensive game; it'd confused her. She didn't speak yet, her shoulders squared and her fists balled and though she did walk over to the chair, she couldn't find it in her to actually sit. Her body was running on a different course- sitting would be good anyways.
"I thought you'd be older." She finally said. This was the first time she'd bothered to make eye contact with Xavier since she'd entered the room. Her throat shuddered, just below her jaw- it was probably still working itself back into its natural human place.
"You're mad at me." she said, but spoke more like she was accusing him than assessing, "How long have you known I've been here?" she demanded. Her nose was wrinkled, and her brow became more tense. She was slowly getting worked up without Xavier's help. If he wasn't going to put her in an unstable state by being the jerk she expected him to be, she'd do it herself.

I thought you'd be older.
He chuckled, nodding. He ran a hand over his hair, thinking of a future self when he'd no longer have that ability. "Kind of you to say."
Listening to her speak, his brows raised. He wasn't surprised that she thought that - practically everywhere else in the world what she'd done would be taken to be a serious assault. And while he felt it was important he attempt to prevent it from reoccurring, he didn't place the blame on her. "No, I'm not angry I assure you. Outburst of your kind are actually quite a common occurrence among newer students. If you don't take the time to understand your powers, how can you expect to control them? As for how long you've been here, well, the considerable improvement in Kevin's spirits were a hint. I haven't approached you before now because this school is meant to be more than a place of learning. This is a sanctuary, Miss Savoy. And I'm glad that we can provide that for you."
"That said," he continued, his tone a little less light, "I do believe that some ground rules need to be established for us to proceed, yes? This isn't the first time you've attacked one of my students. This is as much a sanctuary for them as it is for you, you see, so the two of us are going to have to come to some sort of agreement to prevent more of these incidences from occurring."

Now she wasn't looking at him. But she wasn't sitting either. Her hands which had been clenched were fidgeting now, getting warmer. There were a couple different ways this could go for her. She could join the school with safety, meals and Kevin... She wouldn't be allowed to stay in his room anymore she reckoned, like she wouldn't be allowed to do a lot of things.
Or... She could leave. Since obviously her little routine wasn't going to work anymore.
"I can't always control it..." she grumbled, mostly referring to the first mishap with Alec and Kevin in that courtyard. It had been a freak accident really. "He provoked me..." she defended. Usually she didn't even feel the need to defend herself, but Xavier was making her surprisingly nervous. She still didn't look him in the eye. Jakkie had killed people- she doubted that was new to Xavier with all these mutant kids. But once she was provoked it was nearly impossible for her to go back. She wasn't even entirely sure there was a control for it, even assuming she understood it.
As it was this was a very serious conversation, and all she could do was try to convince herself not to think of anything embarrassing or dirty. This guy could read minds after all. She flushed, and rubbed her face, before sniffing and lowering it to her side again. She'd much forgotten the seat at this point, still feeling the need to be on guard.

"That's what myself and the other professors are here for," Xavier reminded her gently. It was indeed a very serious conversation, but his smile remained to reassure her it was only a conversation. The last thing he wanted was to make the girl feel as if she were on trial. "Very few of us come into our powers with complete control. For some, like Kevin for example, being a mutant means your powers are always an active part of you. Others, like you and I, can prevent them from taking hold. But we can all learn from each other, Miss Savoy. We can teach ourselves how to manage and control our powers, instead of allowing our powers to control us."
He leaned forward in the chair. "It is, and always will be your choice, whether to remain here or to return to society. But I think there is so much more for you here, if you would only allow yourself the opportunity. You have been here for some time, and I like to think that means that at least in part you have come to trust the people here. I trust you. If I really thought you were a danger to your peers, I would not have left this conversation this long. I believe that you have the capacity to move passed this fear of what you are capable; to look beyond what you've done, and see what can be accomplished. We are born neither good nor evil, and we all have the capacity for both. It is the decisions that we make, that defines who we become. No one is beyond redemption, so long as they look for it."
It sparked a memory in his mind of a young man, who had been there at the very beginning. Another who'd been afraid of his inner animal. He could only hope Jackie would give herself a chance, the way Beast had.

She was watching him very carefully now as he spoke, as if looking at him from the corner of her eye was easier to do than looking at him full on. She was looking for a chink in his words, or some sort of catch to what he was saying. It was all too good, too friendly... She hadn't quite been ready for that. She thought this would have been much harsher- big bulky men coming to tear her away from whatever she'd been doing. She was too dangerous to think otherwise.
She shifted over the arm of the chair- as if she was carefully keeping her distance from Xavier and sat down. Rolling her shoulders, and exhaled slowly. Her breath was still shallow and unsteady, as she leaned her elbows on her knees and folded entwined her fingers.
"I don't trus..t..." she trailed off and shook her head. No point of going down the road of 'I don't actually trust a lot of people here' with the exception of Kevin. And even then she was having trouble. But did she trust Xavier? The way her eyes narrowed suspiciously said she was trying really hard not to, but he hadn't given any indication so far that she shouldn't.
"You have no idea what I've done..." she said, shaking her head slowly. Her voice was more hoarse sounding this time, and it surprised her. But she regained some strength in her voice quickly after "I can't control it."
"So you've got mind powers, and that's pretty cool," she laughed and it was almost bitter, "I've got anger problems running too deep. For me, that's dangerous. I wouldn't be a problem if I was all here." she tapped the side of her head, indicating her other form. She couldn't even remember half the stuff that happened while she was feral, just got flashes, and images from the back seat.
"Some of us aren't born with the chance of becoming good."

The fact she decided to finally sit was encouraging for him. He listened patiently to her words, allowing her to give her piece as she had done the same for him.
"I don't need to read your mind to know yours hasn't been a life of simple choices. Please, I don't want you to feel that I am dismissing your struggle. Rather the opposite, I think it speaks to an exceptional willpower to continue to fight for your humanity. You may not have been born with a variety of options, but the choices you've made have led you here. You chose to rely on your friend, to believe that you would be safe here. You chose to stay, even though you may not feel like you belong. Every moment you sit before me, you make the choice to master your emotions. I've seen what anger does to people, and I won't pretend it's easily overcome. In my experience trying to do so alone is rarely successful."
He fell silent for a while, trying to decide how best to proceed. When he spoke again, his voice was much quieter. "Mind powers... No power we are given is easy to grow up with, mine included. There was a time when anger was how I endured, so let me assure you, I know precisely the way it influences mutations. It can feel like the only way to survive, a glue with which to bind up whatever cracks your past has created. But it wasn't until I learned to overcome it that I could move forward. If I hadn't, this school as it is now would not exist. We all have a roll to play in the fate of mutant kind. A very good friend of mine taught me that."
Clearing his throat, he pressed on. "So isn't it worth the risk of failure, to try? There are places within this school where you can train without the remotest possibility of harming anyone. And even if you don't learn to control yourself on that side, I can help teach you how to build the mental blocks to suppress it - even against aggravations like Mr. Rothstein." He added with a wry grin.

Her chin trembled for a moment. Just a second, and then she was hardened once again. Whether it had been out of amusement or something more, was hard to tell. But she did sneer when he mentioned Alec, a low growl arising from her throat as she narrowed her eyes. She resigned the annoyance though, and chewed on the inside of her cheek.
"Assuming I don't kill myself..." she reminded him. She wasn't sure if he really had any idea on the toll her mutation took on her body. The more she'd in her monster form, the harsher it is on her. She looked down at her hands.
"I'm not even sure I'm not being possessed?!" she said suddenly, a look of true bewilderment took her face. It was almost amusing, seeing as she even looked up at Xavier afterwards, panicked. A look that said 'dear god what if I'm not even a mutant?!'

"I will not allow anything to happen to you."
It was the first time he took a firm tone. He stared back into her eyes, unmoving. "Jakkie? Wherever your differences come from, I am here to help you understand them. That's where this all begins. Don't give into fear, it's born out of a lack of knowledge. I will help you find that knowledge. If you want your powers to stop, I will do my utmost to give you the ability to make it so. Possession is the concept of powerlessness, and you are not suffering from that. The power is yours - you just have to figure out how to take it."
"So far as I'm concerned, you are a student here. I will help you in any way I can. If you want it, there is a room for you - I think it's time Kevin was given his privacy back I'm afraid. I will expect you to take classes - in a limited capacity, of course. We can integrate you into the school gradually. I think you'll find the more you allow yourself to be Jakkie, the harder it will be for the other side to take hold. Our friends are what ground us, keep us human. Let us help you. The students here know what it is to be different. Make an effort, and you'll be surprised how welcoming they can be."

She swallowed. Hard. He was making a real effort here, and she was still trying to reject it. She'd been treated like a child a lot, but only now did she actually believe that she was. It was hard to look back at him and spit in his face when he so clearly only had intentions of helping. She had nothing to hate him for, he hadn't given her anything to despise him with. And to an extent that annoyed her. But there was also a little girl inside that couldn't quite come to refuse his kindness.
She looked at him, somewhat reproachfully, and nodded. It was the closest thing to an agreement that she'd allow. Saying 'yes' outright felt ridiculous to her, and though he'd mostly reached Jakkie, she didn't seem entirely convinced.
"And if I kill someone?"
It wasn't a threat- though it did sound like it, the way she held her jaw tight and practically glared at him. She was upset. He'd so easily gotten to her, and she thought she was harder than that. It bothered her, because that's what he was supposed to do. He did it every day and she'd fallen into it just like every other child here had.
If he protested, assuring her that he trusted her control or whatever, she'd outright snarl at him. Because that's not what she meant. If she killed a kid at the school in her other form, it'd change everything. She wouldn't be able to integrate into the system like he said, assuming the teachers wouldn't want to confine her for real, but the students already didn't like her.
Say just maybe, something went entirely wrong and she killed a student, maybe more.
"I don't think you actually get it." she confessed. Again, it sounded wrong, like she was challenging him. But she was trying to say he wasn't experienced with her form, and how to deal with it. Jakkie knew he was provoked by high emotion and anger- but once she changed over there actually wasn't even a minuscule chance of control for her. She wasn't just upset she realized, she was scared.

Pleasure surged through him as she nodded. If she left, there was only so much he could do for her. This was the right decision for her, he was certain of that. And he would make every effort to insure she had the support she required.
And if I kill someone?
It was a concern many of the students who came here experienced. But for Jakkie, it was extremely valid.
"Perhaps I don't," he admitted freely. "As I said, we'll be teaching each other not just me instructing you. But I urge you to remember, you are never on your own here. Every teacher here has faced far greater evils than the side of you you've yet to control. We have stopped all out nucular war, the production of machines capable of hunting mutants. We've fought legislation for the safety of anonymity of our kind, and we have faced mutants who attempted to crush humanities right to exist. I know you think there's no stopping your other side once it comes out. But we can. That's what makes this place a sanctuary - we have to power to preserve it."
Moving out from his side of the table, he wheeled just a little ways passed her, towards the door. He looked back, offering her an encouraging nod. "Now... why don't I show you your new rooms?"

"That's not what I asked." she growled in annoyance. She became less amiable as he talked about her new room. She wasn't ready for that just yet, her concerns about death still a high priority. It was painful to her that the man in the wheelchair was moving along with this faster than she was. She tore out of the chair and faced him, her fists balled up again.
"If I kill someone, what happens. Do you put me in some room, a prison? Sell me out to their families? " she snapped, then proceeded with some sort of imitation of Xaviers calm disposition, "'And this is the young girl who killed your son, but she didn't mean it, she's been trying to stay in control, really!'" Her chest was rising and falling a little faster than if she'd been breathing regularly. She needed to know her own risks. "Accident or not, you still get a charge for manslaughter."
Perhaps she was being a little light with a delicate topic, but the product of killing came so naturally in her lifetime. She'd taken chances and been sold out before. She wanted to be sure this Xavier guy wasn't going to do that. At least if she was out in public she had a chance of escaping after an incident. But here? If they wanted to put her down and lock her up it'd be all too easy.
