Post by Rahne Sinclair on May 25, 2014 16:22:05 GMT
(Rahne's in the park during the day this time XD June 2nd, open to all.)
Human form. Ugly, awkward, walking among people who frightened her. And repulsed her.
As she gripped her cross she looked at the girls walking in tight shorts, low cut tank tops and sandals. She snorted. Dressed in her modest t-shirt, capri jeans and sneakers, she felt both out of place and pure. Purer than they. She had to keep some sin from her pale flesh. The wolf in her took care of more sin than any miniskirt could handle. She gripped her shoulder bag. She was heading back from a museum. And church. Visiting a beautiful church.
She wanted to make sure she wouldn't burn up inside.

Sitting in the park was a new delight for Liara, who had discovered it was an excellent place to people watch and snoop. She was looking at the girls to, but for her it was admiration that held her to attention. She wasn't brave enough to draw the kind of attention they did, though she'd started wearing shorts. She could manage bright colors because she loved them, but snug form fitting clothes made her feel like everyone was seeing her.
How awful that would be!
Diverted, she began watching another girl who seemed set in some sort of purpose, gripping a bag with her legs pumping away. She seemed unhappy about something. Liara was tempted to take a glimpse into her thoughts to find out why, but it was so invasive...
What could one glimpse hurt, though?
She cast her mind out, biting her lip to suppress a smile as birds and the buzz of nature sounded all around her, warming the former silence. She only caught a fraction of the girl, a image of a cross. Liara tilted her head, noticing the cross swinging from the girl's neck. Religious? How interesting. She began expanding her search, looking for another diversion.

Bruce had traced and retracted the paths of the park in the back of his mind. Where the quickest exit was, what lead to the bathrooms, an empty place to think, to clam himself as odd as that sounded. The doctor pauses to rest on a nearby bench letting out a tired sigh as he sits down. His salt and peppered colored hair ruffles slightly in a gust of wind before he leans back eyes closed for a moment.

Liara caught the sigh through the man's mind, a map of pathways fluttering behind her eyes. She tilted her head, watching him from the other side of the path. Reclining on the bench, it was difficult to tell if he was relaxing or tense and trying to find relief. She frowned, daring a gentle probe at his mind, trying to find the point of the paths in his mind.
Maybe she could do something to help him. She was fairly certain it wasn't serenity inspiring his pose as he was now.

If Liara was out alone, the chance of Avery being not far behind was very high. In this case he was literally behind her, and he was careful when he approached. He put two hands on either side of her shoulders, and place a kiss on the top of her head. And yet, even this short glimpse of sincerity, he blew a raspberry on the back of her head to muddle with her hair.
It's rude to stare. He told her without speaking. He knew she'd hear him. He stepped over the bench she was on over the backside, and sat down beside her, leaning forward just a little. And yet even with his observation at his sister's activities, it didn't stop him from joining it.
"Look at that guy." he pointed out the man who'd just sat on the bench. Bruce. "He looks like he's going to have a heart attack. You think he gets his secretary to carry him up the stairs when the elevator's out of order?"

Rahne shook her head. Was that someone prying into her...no no, the only person she knew could do that was Professor Xavier. But it still felt the same, didn't it? She shrugged it off before searching around the crowded benches. How she'd have loved to find a place to sit down and read. Not the bible but something exciting. The book suggested to her by Prof. X was titled The Hunger Games. Rahne had rushed to grab up the book before realizing it wasn't the only one. There were THREE!
Now all three book bounced in her bag as Rahne spotted a seat next to an attractive boy and a very pretty girl. Not being a rude one she shuffled shyly up, pushing her short hair back.
"Ah...s'that seat taken next tae ye?" She asked.

(Quietly slides back into former place since mucking up the order in rp excitement XD)
With a delighted shriek, Liara wrinkled her nose as Avery mucked up her hair, swatting at him and covering her head as he hopped the bench to sit with her. She put hair back to sorts as she listened to him speak - verbally and otherwise. She glowed with amusement, thinking to Avery, She would have to be pretty enormous. And named Helga. And moonlight as a body builder.
She was distracted as a rolling voice spoke to them, looking at Rahne in surprise. She stared for a moment, realizing it was the girl who'd been speeding along early, with the cross on her mind. Smiling shyly, Liara shuffled over against Avery to make sure the girl had ample room. She pulled her arm around Avery's, peeking at the girl through her hair. She seems nice. Ask her what her name is, Liara urged her brother, eyes flickering across the way again to the man on the bench. You don't think there's something wrong with him do you? He was thinking about all these pathways, like he wanted to know how to get away...

Somebody walking by might think he was crazy, as he looked to his silent sister with amusement, and laughed openly. But Avery had long since lost that censor ages ago, more concerned about the state of Liara and how she felt. It was important to him that she felt normal in public, so Avery acting like his calm self was the best way for him to do that.
"Helga, seys eet yur veggutubles." he groaned back at her. Now he definitely looked crazy. But he hardly looked concerned as the girl approached and asked if the seat was available. As Liara squirmed over to his side and tucked her arm in with his, he nodded.
"All yours." He invited with a welcoming smile. And then came the requests from his sister, which he complied to easily. "What's your name?" he asked the girl shortly after. Now, since Liara hadn't spoke it was quite possible Avery was about to come off as the too interested, too forward and too cute boy asking so directly for some pretty girls name. But he'd accepted that without so much as a second thought.
If he was back with Helga, I'm sure there'd be something wrong. Let him be. He thought back to her. So he did have some sort of public filter. In any case, he was sure if the man needed help he'd ask someone, and Avery was willing to give a hand if that was the case.

Rahne nodded her head and smiled, pushing back a piece of her thick hair. "Thank ye." She smirked politely, sitting down next to the two. She opened her bag, enjoying the sunlight and the warm air outside. Her green orbs widened as she turned to the male. Her lips parted in an 'o' shape. Was he...asking her name? They must not have been from the city, that had to be it. Any New Yorker she'd sit next to would have scoffed and turned away from her.
She realized slightly that she was staring before she closed her mouth and blushed slightly. "Ach, I'm sorry," she said with a nod, "Ah...muh name's Rahne. Rahne Sinclair." She slipped her hand out of her bag. They were going to chat! She wouldn't need a book as of now.
"Ah, what're yuir names?"

Liara giggled at her brothers remark, waiting patiently as Rahne settled. Her smile broadened the more the girl spoke. Her accent was wonderful! Liara loved to listen to all the different ways people could say the same words, but of all the accents she'd heard so far Rahne's was ranking quite highly.
Her eyes flickered to Avery, considering asking him to continuing being her voice for her. When he was close it was so much easier to ask him to do the talking, and he never made her feel remotely guilty for it. But she was two years into hearing now. She really needed to keep practicing. "I'm Liara. I love the way you talk."
She flushed. "Y-Your accent. I mean."

"Friends?" That's was Hulk's deep rumbling voice it weaves it's way threw Banner's thoughts and his eyes snap open a moment later. An almost alarmed look on his face quickly fallows the others would surely think him mad if they did not know who he was.
'No,uh, no at lest I don't think so?' Bruce replies as it echos threw his skull for his alter-ego to hear.

An encouraging warmth radiated from Avery when he sister spoke for herself. He was more than willing to speak for her and she knew it, so the fact she was speaking for herself was something to be proud of. He didn't even bat an eye as she seemed to flush at talking about Rahne's accent.
"Avery." He reached across his sister and stuck an open hand out for her to shake without looking away from her face.
"She's right, it's really quite nice." he agreed. Whether it was to ease his sister some, or that he was actually interested remained up for debate. "Scottish? Irish?" he questioned. He was a poor judge to be honest, and was hopeless at telling the different. Was there one? As far as he was concerned not really.

Rahne smiled brightly, a smile of a girl who'd spent time in the city alone and away from human contact. The pair seemed kind to her, which pleased the girl. Transported to New York from the streets of Kincross where everyone say hello, Rahne had been shocked by the cruelty. But she was terribly pleased to engage in conversation. "Nice tae meet you," she said, twirling a piece of her hair, "Y'have a lovely name!"
Rahne beamed, blushing slightly. "Scotts," she purred, "Transported right here from there. Good guess! Have ye been there?" Stupid question but Rahne was nervous, unsure of how to continue the conversation.

Turning a delicate shade of scarlet Liara murmured a thanks at Rahne's compliment. Having never been to Scotland, she was tempted to take a peek at it through Rahne, but refrained. Memories were private - that was one of the ground rules she'd lain for herself. She'd meant to focus on her brother as he and the girl started chatting, but she was distracted by a deep rumble:
Friends?
She'd let Avery's soothing thoughts calm her to the man on the other bench, but now she stared at him again, wide eyed and blanching as he murmured to the voice she was certain the rest of the world hadn't heard. Her mind went at first to schizophrenia - a different voice talking to him - but she'd brushed against the minds of schizophrenics before. And this was different - palpable. A whole other entity?
"Avery," Liara tugged urgently on Avery's sleeve now. "There's -" Someone else in that guys head, Avery. And they don't feel... right. She corrected herself, thinking to her brother rather than talking. Trying not to look like a lunatic, she looked to Rahne. "Does that guy seem strange to you? Talking to himself?"

Avery shook his head when Rahne asked if they'd been. "Nah. It's nice though?" he asked, bouncing his knee idly as he maintained the conversation. That was before Liara had tugged on his arm with a tone of urgency. He frowned when she said his name, and then she fell to silence, speaking to his mind. That was when the concern took hold, and he only gave her a puzzled look with a furrowed brow before looking over to the man. He considered Liara's words when she spoke aloud without looking away from the man.
"Yeah well... let's find out." he murmured.
"Oi!" he called over to the man. His yelling was somewhat without warning, "You doing alright over there?" he asked, whether his original call had registered the mans attention or not. He looked kind of familiar, didn't he? Avery couldn't quite place it though...
