Alecsander Rothstein
Take Control...
TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CITY
Alecsander Nathaniel Rothstein:
Nicknames:Alec
Gender:Male
Age:17
Sexual Orientation:Straight
Location:New York
Origin: OC
Play-By: Kevin Zegers
Height:5’8”
Hair: Dark blond
Eyes:Light grey
Typical Clothing/Uniform:Typically he likes sporting clothes slightly more formal than necessary, though he never looks uncomfortable in them. Extremely vain and extremely proud of his wealthy status, Alec’s primary concern most days is looking good. If he’s wearing causal clothing, you can be sure it’s still designer.
Powers/Abilities:Call it charm manifesting, as he came into teenage years Alec realized people were more than affected by what he said – they did what he said. Through speech, but much more effectively through touch, he is able to control the desires of people, making them want what he wants, and making them do what he wants them to. It’s a type of physic connection, but so far he’s been unable to do anything beyond imposing his will on others (No mind reading, physic attacking, etc.). The weaker willed and less intelligent the person, the easier it is. Probably his mutant abilities melding with his survival instincts, Alec gives off an aura of calm which works as a balm against a personality many should find abrasive in the extreme.
Team Affiliation:X-Men loosely, Alec’s morals are flimsy at best.
Personality:Arrogant in the extreme, Alec is always willing to believe people find him attractive and interesting. He’s vain enough to use eye cream, and probably owns more hair products than most women, Alec leaves himself fairly wide open to attack in that he can’t understand who wouldn’t find him irresistible. That all said, Alec enjoys toying with people – using his abilities completely unethically. His main defense is that if they really didn’t want to, he shouldn’t be able to force them, but Alec has been known to use his powers to steal – for fun, since he’s never short on funds, ‘score ladies’, and even in some extremes to physically damage others. He’s made people he doesn’t like attack each other, broken up relationships to be the comforting shoulder to cry on, he’s even used his powers to make a business rival of his father’s tank his company when he tried to move in and get his father deposed. Alec’s tendencies to use people means he rarely makes meaningful relationships with anyone, and the only person he’s unwilling to use his powers on at the present time is mom, who’s undoubtedly his weak point.
Family:Father is Adrian Rothstein, mother Jillian Rothstein.
Marital status:Single
History:A trust fund child, Alec’s never honestly felt a need for much. Apart from his mother’s accident in which she was confined to a wheelchair, he really never had to suffer any hardship. His lack of commitment to school, and general lack of interest in responsibility led to a poor relationship with him and his father.
His abilities manifested at thirteen, and in the early stages he wasn't so much aware that he was a mutant as he noticed people stopped arguing with him. It was only when he yelled at his father to sit down and shut up, shoving him, that he realized it was much more than his dazzling self. His father didn't speak for days, Alec savoring the power he had over the old man.
The only reason he let his father begin speaking again was because his mother began to get frightened her husband was having a mental breakdown. Even when she showed worry, it wasn't till he walked in on her crying that he took his father aside and told him he could speak again. Too frightened his mother would be afraid of him, Alec also told his father he wasn’t allowed to tell anyone it was Alec who’d stopped him from speaking.
Alec knew about mutants, of course, X-Men were kind of hard to ignore, but he had absolutely no interest in ‘coming out of the closet’ as he put it. So, for the next three and a half years he pressed up against his limits, simply luxuriating in the ease that came with being able to control those around him.
In the end, the only reason he agreed to go to the Xavier Institute was because his mother asked him to. He hadn't been subtle in his use of his talents, and so she sat him down and the two discussed his options. He refused to go on television in tights with his underwear on the outside, but her fear that he was using his powers unethically led to the agreement that he would attend the institute. Anonymity, and a place he could learn not to abuse his ability. It was a compromise, something he didn't make lightly. And so he comes to attend the institute feeling snarky, hard done by, and with absolutely no intention of changing his ways.
